My furniture is inspired by the timeless designs found in Prairie School stained glass windows. Prairie School designs play a big part in American architectural history, having originated in the midwestern states and spreading through the country. Traditionally, these stained glass designs have a unique way of breaking up a space and introducing interesting eye movement. I've worked to combine these beloved design concepts and use them to make artwork that is functional.
After college I was able to get into custom woodwork and cabinetry in the architectural millwork field, where I learned about designing and building custom cabinetry and woodwork. I first sparked an interest in furniture making when I was a kid and my grandpa would build custom furniture for loved ones, in his basement shop. He always enjoyed woodworking and making crafts in his free time and I inherited that appreciation for the hand made crafts. Now it's become my hobby to build furniture in my basement shop.
When not making furniture and artwork, I can be found making the most of the outdoor activities in Minnesota. I make my best effort to enjoy our long winters spending time teaching ski lessons, playing beer league hockey, or just getting out in the snow with my kids. Other times of year give me a great opportunity to get out on the lakes, ride bicycles, or go on an adventure traveling the world with friends and family.
